Old School Lane, Longton

Client: Redrow Homes

We have now completed construction on a Redrow site at Old School Lane, Longton. The site comprised of 30 large houses from Redrow's new heritage range. We provided roads and sewers throughout the site. The contract included:

  • 150mm foul sewers
  • 225/300/750mm dia surface water sewers
  • 3no piped ditch crossings
  • Large attenuation pond
  • Hydrobrake manhole
  • Small bridge for driveway over ditch
  • Initial role as principle contractor
  • Sewer connection into existing road
  • Approximately 200m of road
  • Dug and concreted initial footing for garage of first plot

The first task we had on site was to dig and concrete the foundations for the garage of the first plot before the groundworks contractor arrived on site, this enabled Redrow to establish a sales presence on site as quickly as possible. In our role as principle contractor we had to ensure that not only our own health and safety standards we maintained but also that of the other contractors on site. As part of the contract we were required to provide a small bridge crossing for a double driveway over a ditch which ran through the middle of the site. This meant employing specialist joiners and steel fixers to provide the best possible workmanship for the job. We also constructed 3 piped crossings where the road crossed the ditch, providing stone headwalls to finish them off.
